Hot Rolled Coils, Slits and Plates Manufacturing

Our hot rolling mills at Hazira, in Gujarat, with a rated capacity of 8.6 MTPA, include a conventional hot strip mill and a modern compact strip mill. The mills produce a wide range of high strength hot-rolled products, in sizes ranging from 0.8 mm to 20 mm with a variety of applications. The strip mill is the only plant in the world to have three ironmaking technologies at a single location - Midrex, Blast Furnace, and Corex. The combination of two routes - Direct Reduced Iron and Electric Arc Furnace - ensures we produce cleaner steel, suited for high end segments like automotive and defense.

About Hazira Facility

Hazira Steel plant, Gujarat, is a well-planned, sophisticated and environment-friendly facility with a highly integrated and modern complex. With an achievable capacity of 9 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA), the company holds the distinction of owning and operating the one of largest single-location flat steel plants in the world. The plant comprises a comprehensive infrastructure set up, including power plants, lime and oxygen plants, a township and a captive port that can handle capsize vessels, and is equipped with modern handling equipment. This inclusion makes the complex entirely self-sufficient, eliminating the dependency on external inputs and forms the core of AM/NS India's integrated processes.

Packaging

When it comes to sourcing hot rolled steel, the way in which it is packaged and labeled has a role to play in ensuring quality and shipping convenience. As reputed hot rolled coil manufacturers in India, AM/NS India adheres to the highest level of quality and compliance when it comes to packaging hot rolled section steel all over the world. AM/NS India's Stallion hot rolled steel is supplied as HR sheets and coils, and they can be sourced in different configurations based on the client's requirements. he following are some of the details that you must consider while selecting the right option for your requirements.

Hot rolled steel coils

For domestic HRC that would be transported by rail and road, steel that's less than or equal to 3mm is secured by 3 eye straps, 1 circumferential strap, and feature one ID ring. For steel that features a thickness of over 3mm, eye sraps and one circumferentials strap is used. For rolled sheet transportation within the country, the number of circumferential straps is increased by 2 for both thickness specifications. For export markets, 4 eye straps and 3 circumferential straps are used, with an ID ring on steel of thickness less that or equal to 3mm. The hot rolled section steel labellings are designed to adhere to the global regulations for export. Moreover, rolled sheets can be delivered as packaged sheets as well. They are secured down by lateral straps and transported on wooden runners to prevent damage and chipping in transit. As hot rolled coil manufacturers in India, we understand the compliance requirements, and to the end, the labellings are well-placed to enabled easy deliveries, either domestically or internationally.

Why good packaging and labeling is important?

Hot rolled steel coils and rolled sheets must be properly packaged and secured before shipping, either domestically or internationally, for a few important resaons:

Prevention of Damage

HR sheets and coils are susceptible to physical damage such as dents, scratches, and bending during transit. Proper packing and securing prevent these issues by ensuring that the steel sheets and coils are protected from external impacts, vibrations and friction.

Protection Against Corrosion

Although hot rolled section steel is often treated to be more resistant to corrosion, exposure to moisture, humidity or contaminants during transport can lead to rust formation. Proper packing, including moisture-resistant coverings, helps to keep the steel dry and sheilded from environmental factors that may cause corrosion.

Safety of Transport Personnel

Improperly secured coils and sheets can shift or fall during transport, posing a serious safety risk to personnel handling the material, as well as to the driver and other road users. Given the weight and size of sheet coils, any movement can cause accidents, injuries, or even fatalities. Securely packing and fastening the material helps to prevent these hazards. As hot rolled coil manufaturers in India, personnel safety during transport is paramount for us.

Compliance with Transportation Regulations

Many countries and transportation companies have strict regulations regarding the shipment of heavy and industrialgoods like steel. Improper packaging or securing can result in non-compliance, leading to fines, legal liabilities, or shipment delays. Ensuring that the steel coils and sheets are packed in accordance with these regulations helps to avoid logistical and legal complications.

Preventing Material Waste and Cost Overruns

If hot rolled section steel is damaged during transport, it can lead to material waste and additional costs for replacement. Damaged steel may also cause delays in construction or manufacturing processes, leading to downtime or missed deadlines. Proper packaging reduces the risk of these financial losses by maintaining the material's condition from the supplier to the destination.

Maintaining Product Quality

Customers expect their hot rolled steel to arrive in good condition, meeting their specified dimensions and quality standards. Properly packed and secured shipments ensure that the steel retains its original shape, size, and surface finish, thus maintaining the quality of the product upon delivery.

Hot rolled steel is formed at high temperatures, yielding a rough surface and varied dimensions. In contrast, cold rolled steel undergoes the process at room temperature, resulting in a smoother finish and precise dimensions. The disparate production methods impact mechanical properties, making hot rolled steel generally less precise but suitable for structural applications, while cold rolled steel's accuracy and smoothness make it ideal for projects requiring tight tolerances and a refined appearance.

Hot-rolled steel is manufactured by a process that involves heating a metal billet or slab to industrially high temperatures, typically above 1700°F (926°C). This elevated temperature softens the material, making it malleable, and is then passed through rollers to achieve the desired thickness and shape. The rapid cooling that follows, known as quenching, solidifies the steel. This method results in a coarser surface finish and varied dimensions for the hr sheet or coil, making hot-rolled steel suitable for structural applications where being robust is of primary importance.

The hot rolling process in steel involves heating a metal billet or slab to temperatures exceeding 1700°F (926°C). This elevated temperature renders the material pliable, enabling it to be shaped and reduced in thickness by passing it through a series of rollers. Subsequent rapid cooling, or quenching, solidifies the steel. The resulting product exhibits a coarser surface finish and customisable dimensions, making it suitable for structural and industrial applications.

Hot rolled steel earns its name due to the manufacturing process involving elevated temperatures. During this heat-intensive procedure, a metal billet or slab becomes pliable, allowing it to be shaped and trimmed in any manner that may be required for the intended application. The term "hot" emphasizes the high temperature at which this process occurs, distinguishing it from cold-rolling methods, which take place at or near room temperature, resulting in distinct material properties and surface finishes. The characteristics that these types of steel feature vary quite a bit from the other contemporaries.
